How To Make The Perfect Bowl Of Porridge

The Perfect Bowl of Porridge Recipe. A short film showing you how to make a great bowl of porridge. A popular breakfast treat in a variety of countries makes this recipe highly desirable. Sample our the Perfect Bowl of Porridge recipe.

Step 1:

You will need

  • 1 measuring jug
  • 1 non-stick saucepan
  • 1 table spoon
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 bowl
  • 500ml Milk
  • 2.5 tablespoons Oats
  • Pinch Of Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Demerara Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • Cream

Step 2:

Milk

Pour the milk into a non-stick saucepan and bring it to a simmer - small bubbles should appear on the surface. Don't boil the milk or it will burn

Step 3:

Add oats

Slowly add the oats, salt and sugar stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon all the time.

Step 4:

Simmer

Keep stirring until bubbles appear again. Then reduce the heat, cover the pan and cook gently for 8-10 minutes, stirring frequently. Cooking time depends on the thickness of the oats: the finer they are the quicker they'll cook.

Step 5:

Serve

When the porridge is done, it will be thick but pourable and the oats will be soft

Step 6:

Toppings

Now add in some cream to taste and stir. You might also wish to add a table spoon of honey.

you dont really need that much milk, adding a small cup of oats and then using the same cup fill with milk, and then again with water, should practically be the perfect amounts. also the salt isnt really nesessary.

I just made this a moment ago (am now eating it!) and it's delicious! I didn't know I liked porridge! I didn't have enough milk in the fridge so I used half measures of everything, but that still makes enough for a breakfast in my opinion. Yum yum yum!

the porridge chinese people makes are just rice boiled with water. sometimes they boil with chicken or fish for taste. and when cooked, just season with soy sauce and pepper until you like the taste!

view from Scotland - 1 measure of oats, 1 measure water, 1 measure mile plus a pinch of salt. cook for 3-4 minutes stirring. plate up and then add extra milk and salt to taste. if you're a nancy and don't wear a kilt be a sweetie and add sugar or honey.

milk in oat porridge is like cream in a risotto, superfluous if you cook it properly.
