Step 1: Pre-Heat

  • ½ cups (120ml) butter
  • 1 ½ cups (380ml) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cups (60ml) sugar
  • 2 eggs,, separated
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cups (250ml) walnuts, chopped
  • ½ cups (120ml) raspberry preserves
  • Mixing bowl
  • Mixer or whisk
  • Parchment paper
  • Cookie sheet

Step 2: Mix

Cream butter and sugar together with a mixer Then add egg yolks and vanilla and beat until smooth. Add the flour and salt a little at a time until a soft dough forms. That's it. Your batter is ready.

Step 3: Roll

Beat the egg whites, then roll your dough into 3/4 inch balls and dip them in. Roll the dough balls in the chopped walnuts, and then put onto a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, leaving about an inch between.

Step 4: Print

Press your thumb into the middle of each dough ball, and fill the hole with about 1/4 teaspoon of the preserves.

Step 5: Bake

Bake your cookies about 15 minutes, until they're set. Let them cool on the pan for a minute, and then move them to a cooling rack. This recipe makes abut 3 dozen cookies.

Step 6: Done.
