We've followed the recipe, works well but we took the pan off the heat to coat them and what we found was the last 2 were disasters! because the coating had cooled too quickly, we think we should have left it on the heat while coating it.

Apples are often 'waxed' which stops toffe sticking so I scrubbed mine with a kitchen sponge first with a tiny dot of washing up liquid to clean wax off - then gave them a good rinse!

Just made some, in time for bonfire night. Great fun and quick and easy to make. I understand what everyone means about the toffee setting quickly but I 'pasted' it onto my last one - I also managed to squeeze 5 of out the toffee instead of 4. Very pleased, hope they taste as nice as they look!

I tried this recipe too and I found out that the way to get the toffee mixture to be hard is by cooking it a bit longer, the more you cook the mixture the harder it gets.

wow, it looks yummy, but it would be more good if apples cut down into square pieces there is one suggestion use some chocolate syrup, honey or apple juice(instead of water) with brown sugar n finally introduce some of the crushed toffees n chocolate chips while making caramel...it depends on you which fruit you are using my I prefer apricot.
