Step 1: You will need...

  • 12 tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 red onion, sliced in thin rings
  • 100 g capers, drained
  • 1 bunch chives, washed and finely chopped
  • 5 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 1 serving plate
  • 1 chopping board
  • 1 small bowl
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 whisk

Step 2: Make the dressing

Pour the olive oil into a small bowl, add the red wine vinegar and the salt and pepper. Whisk well.

Step 3: Assemble the salad

Arrange the tomatoes around the edge of a plate, working towards the centre and put the onion rings on top. Sprinkle on the capers and chives and finally drizzle over the dressing.

Step 4: Serve

We recommend serving the salad with some fresh, crusty bread. Enjoy!

This looks like a terrific lunch or light supper with some cheese added as well as the suggested bread. (You can use any kind of vinegar that suits you, or substitue lemon juice.) I can taste summer now.
