How To Make Tuna Sashimi With Apple Purée

Tuna Sashimi with Apple Purée Recipe. A tasty Japanese appetizer or snack. A great dish for fish enthusiasts! Taste our Tuna Sashimi with Apple Purée recipe.

You will need…

  • 200 g fresh tuna
  • 1 green apple
  • 3 radishes , thinly sliced
  • 1 Tbsp chives , chopped
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice
  • 1 Tbsp wasabi powder
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 6 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 chopping board
  • 1 knife
  • 1 grater
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 teaspoon
  • 2 small bowls

Step 1:

Make the wasabi

Add the water to the wasabi powder and mix together to make a smooth paste.

Step 2:

Make the dressing

Into a bowl place one teaspoon of the wasabi paste. Pour in the soy sauce and the sesame oil. Add half of the chives and mix together until all the wasabi paste has dissolved. If you like the dressing spicier then add more of the wasabi paste.

Step 3:

Make the apple purée

Take the apple and grate it using the fine section of the grater. Half of the apple will be enough. Scoop out the purée from the inside of the grater and place it all into a bowl. Add the lime juice and mix together.

Step 4:

Cut the tuna

Take the tuna and cut into four slices about 1 centimetre thick. Place the slices in a line. Now carefully cut down the middle so that you are left with 8 equal squares of tuna.

Step 5:

Make the sashimi

Lay the tuna squares on a plate and spoon a little of the soy and wasabi dressing onto each piece. Add a teaspoon of the apple purée to the tuna. Garnish with a couple of slices of radish, a pinch of chives and serve.

Don't cut the sashimi in a sawing motion, it destroys the cells.

Thank you very much for the well-scripted and edited video. I have always wondered whether a tuna (ahi) need to be frozen before being used as sashimi. Your video impresses me that fresh tuna can go straight for sashimi use.
