How To Make Vanilla Custard
Vanilla custard is a great accompaniment to any dessert; especially English classics such as rhubarb crumble. In this step by step guide Chef Paul Mulvenna-Pegrum shows you how to make it.

Ingredients
- 570 ml full-fat milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 egg
- 25 g caster sugar
- 10 g cornflour
Method
Bring the milk to the boil, then remove it from the heat.
Whisk together the sugar, eggs, cornflour and vanilla extract. Add the hot milk, then return to the pan and cook until it thickens, whisking the whole time.
