I'm going to show you how to do a vintage updo incorporating a Marcel wave. Now, to do the Marcel wave, I did a section from ear to ear and I did a pin curl set. So, I did one pin curl going clockwise and the other pin curl going anticlockwise and so on.

To do your pin curl, I'll show you quickly now. Grab a triangular section of hair and you make that into a circle and then you roll towards the root area and then you just grip that in and hold that. Before I did that, I sprayed a heat protector spray just to help me roll the hair to make it more pliable and the one I'm going to do now is grab a straightening iron and you press that onto the pin curl and that will help force that into shape and what I have to do is tap the irons in so you're kind of tapping the iron, then releasing and tapping around as you're working around your pin curl and then I'm just going to grip that back into place so it can cool down while it's still in that shape.

And for the hairdo at the back, we just use really large rollers, you brush it out, grab three sections, do one roll and another roll. You can do what you like back here. You can leave it all out and just have a nice natural wave.

It's really up to you. Now, what we're going to do is release all the pin curls. What I do now is I use my comb just to brush these out and I brush out the other side, then brushing and pushing the hair into shape and then what I'll do here is I'll also grip this piece up as well.

What you want to do is to create an S shape in this area and that will create your Marcel wave. If you are to wear the hair long and not up, you carry on the S wave like down towards the hair shaft. That's my vintage hair up incorporating a Marcel wave.
