Ingredients

  • vanilla cupcakes
  • vanilla buttercream
  • fondant icing, various colours

Method

Begin by applying a swirl of buttercream icing to your cupcakes.

Press some fondant icing into a circle and flatten with a rolling pin. Cut out a flower shape with a flower plunger cutter. Take a small amount of black fondant, press it flat and cut out a circle with the bottom of a piping nozzle. Brush the flower centre with a little water to stick it down. Stick the marigold flower to the centre of the cake.

For the daisy butterfly cupcake, get some white fondant, roll out flat, and use a cutter to cut out the flower shape. For the centre of the daisy use a small ball of yellow fondant stuck on with a little water.

Use a lilac coloured fondant for the butterfly. Cut it with the butterfly cutter. If you want the butterfly to have its wings up, dry on a folded piece of cardboard with its wings in a flapping position.
