I agree with Mummy21 that this IS cheese sauce(known also as Mornay Sauce).White sauce is called Bechamel Sauce and does not contain cheese it is a basis for many sauces if you like! Here is the info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mornay_sauce. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%A9chamel_sauce. I hope that helps as i was confused myself.
Thanks for this video. Its the first time i have made white sauce. i added mushrooms, garlic and peppers. Fab !!!
Your right Mummy21, i do it the same way!
I am confused as what White Sauce is and what it is used for. It's not what Americans would call Alfredo, is it?
I make a white sauce by first heating the butter then removing from the heat and adding the flour to make a paste (roux) then i add milk and return to the heat, doing it this way means you avoid any lumps and speeds the cooking process up. I NEVER add cheese when it still on the heat as it can burn and ruin the taste. Also this is NOT a white sauce this is a CHEESE sauce. I sometimes add mustard for an extra kick aswell.
