How To Make Your Rhythms Flow

How To Make Your Rhythms Flow: Learn how to make your rhythms flow in beat boxing the VideoJug way. You may have mastered the sounds, but here are a few tips to help your beats and rhythms flow that little bit better.
-
Step 1:
-
Practice Makes Perfect
-
Always practice, practice will get you where you want to be. Beatboxing is fantastic because all you need is your head and your brain to beatbox with, meaning you can practice whenever and wherever you like. The best beatboxers dedicate time to practicing, but a lot of people simply pick it up as a hobby and find they can't stop practicing, and that's when you know you're hooked.
-
Step 2:
-
Breathing
-
Always make a mixture of inward and outward sounds. If you're constantly using noises that mean expelling air you will eventually run out of breath. Instead use inward noises with the outward noises until it feels like you're almost breathing, so do two outward noises and then follow it with a sharp inward one. Good examples are the inward handclap or the inward k-snare, and every time you do them you get a nice, big shot of air into the lungs ready to blow out into the next technique. Use these with outward sounds (too many inward sounds will leave you lungs too full!) to get your beats to flow a bit better.

Step 3:
-
Listen To Music
-
Listen to as much music as you can, and quietly beatbox along to get a better idea of how the rhythms work. Some people get it really easily, and for some people it takes a bit longer, but after a while you should definitely be able to get a better sense of rhythm.

Step 4:
-
Buy A Metronome
-
Some people like to invest in a metronome to help get the rhythm of their beats crystal clear. They range in price but what they do is make a clicking noise that helps you keep really in time. They can really enhance your beatboxing by showing you when you are speeding up or slowing down, and really keep your beats on track.
