How To Master Chub Fishing

There are many types of fish out there that are worth fishing. In this VideoJug film, Dave from Go Fly Fishing UK will give some tips and techniques on how to become an expert at catching chub fish.

Chub are exciting fish to catch. They are good feeders almost all year round. They feed in the winter when it's really cold.

They also feed in the summer. They will feed on different things at different times of the year. They're a distant relative of the cod.

They're a large, silvery, sometimes bronze-coloured fish. They're quite powerful and they will eat all sorts of different types of food. This spot's got all the right characteristics for a good chub fishing spot.

I've fished in this spot many times before. I know that just down below here, the water goes down to about four feet deep. It's a nice steady flow.

As you can see, there's a few overhanging trees here and there. The chub like those sorts of things. What I've got here is a ledger-weight setup.

I've got a hook, size 16, with a couple of red maggots, which is what I'm going to use now to try and catch the chub. I'm going to cast my bait out into the middle of the stream. The ledger-weight is going to sink down to the bottom.

Then, we're going to watch the rod tip. This is a quivered-tip rod. We're going to watch the rod tip to hopefully see a bite from a fish.

I'm going to put the rod down in the rod rest. Now, I'm watching the rod tip jumping out. .
