I am a Japanese chef. i don't feel that any wine goes with sushi. The acids in wine counteract with the vinegar in sushi rice. Green tea and of course a good Japanese beer go great with sushi. Wine and sashimi is different, of course. Sake goes best with sashimi and will beat any western wine as a food pairing. Bordeaux, Riesling, Gewurztreminer, and other grapes make incredible wine for other cuisines. Just not sushi and sashimi. Opt for a high quality dai-ginjo sake at your sushi bar and taste the difference. Enjoy!

The implication that sake is served traditionally hot is outrageous. Travel to Japan and see how sake is served.
Best wine with Sushi is Plum wine :D
Wow...montana wine! Thats a New Zealand wine..I heard it was popular in the Uk, but I didnt know that they would use it here!
Even though, everyone should do as they please, Sake is not traditionally consumed with Sushi. It is made from rice just like sushi, and you do not want to have rice with rice. Sake usually should be drunken together with the starter, e.g. sashimi, and/or after the meal.
The best thing to drink with sushi is Japanese beer!
The best wine to eat with sushi is Sake.
'has this been chilled then?' HA!!!
I'm sorry but the best beverage with sushi is indeed Sake. All wines even riesling is too over powering for the delicate flavours of the raw fish and rice in my honest opinon. Also on a minor note though, I don't mean to be rude. However, both interviewer and interviewee need to watch the video "How to Eat Sushi" that is locate on Video Jug. Because judging from what is shown here they don't follow the rules. Cheers
