How To Measure Your Bra Size

A poor fitting bra can be a very painful experience. VideoJug shows you how to measure your bra size correctly to allow maximum freedom and comfort. Never have the wrong bra measurement again! A poor fitting bra can be a very painful experience. VideoJug shows you how to measure your bra size correctly to allow maximum freedom and comfort. Never have the wrong bra measurement again!

Step 1: Ensure an accurate measurement

Wear your best fitting bra in order to get the most accurate measurement. Make sure the cups are not too small as this will give a smaller cup size than you require.

Step 2: Measure band size

Run a tape measure all the way around your body just underneath your breasts and take a measurement in inches. If the number is even, add 4 and if it is odd, add 5. This will give you your band size. For instance, if you measured 28 inches, your band size will be 32.

Step 3: Calculate cup size

To find your cup size, measure around the fullest part of the bust in inches, not too tightly or the measurement will be inaccurate. Then subtract your band size from this measurement. This will help you to determine your cup size. If the bust size is less than the band size, you are an AA cup. If there is no difference between the two measurements, your cup size is A. A 1 inch difference indicates a B cup, 2 inches is a C cup, 3 is a D cup and so on. You can use this chart to find out your cup size.

minus 1 inches AA
0 inches A
1 inches B
2 inches C
3 inches D
4 inches DD
5 inches E
6 inches F

That formula is incorrect. May work for some, but not for me. My bra size has been 40D for many years (occasionally 38D, depending on brand), but this formula would have me at 40AA. Huge difference. The reality is every woman's body is different, so there is no "magic formula" that works for all

according to this, I am a 32E. that is complete hogwash, or at least retailers are not on the same page. i am a slight person, with small boobs. most sizes in retail stores that fit are 32b and more recently c (extremely hard to find!). there is no way a double d or e would fit. that is reserved for augmented persons, very common where i live. i know a bra that is way to big for me when i see it. with retailers trying to confound us with various strategies of flattering us with way too large sizes, or conversely, making it a crime to have a small chest, what are we to do? unfortunately, i think the method for fitting women in bras changes with trends - and each line of bras is highly variable. good luck ladies. i'll listen for your frustrated sighs in the dressing rooms nest to mine.

all i can say is that i got my sister to measure me so the tape was straight for an accurate measure and my reading came out as a 36A. im a uk size 10 and ive got more than a generous handful in the boob department. this video and most of the websites around on how to measure your bust should be band because if i wore a 36A it would be swinging around my neck when i jumped and not even containing half my boobs. by the time im thirty my breasts would be down to my knees if i followed this guide.

Most of my life I wore the wrong size bra because stores never carried my size and even now it's hard to know what size is going to fit me (since bra manufacturers don't follow the same size charts). What I've found, though, is the video above is almost correct...except for a few things. In step 2...DON'T add 4-5 inches after you measure just underneath your breasts - start with what you measure and even try a band size down. Also, in step 3, A cup should be 1 inch, not 0, and then inches/sizes continue up from there.

This could not be more wrong! According to this method, I should be a 38 C, but I`m actually a 34 F. Videos like these are the reason 80% of women are wearing the wrong size!
