This video really helped me! Not too long ago I went to get fitted at a department store in the mall and was shortly disappointed as when I tried the bras on again at home realized it still wasn't the best fit for me. After going online and searchig for the best way to determine a bra size I ran accross this web site. The video instructions were easy to understand and follow as you were able to see the young girl walking you throught the steps. I'm more of a visual learner and although I had to play the video twice to assure I had gone through the steps correctly it really was the best and most accurate way of finding the best bra fit for me.

This is rather frustrating as I measured 28.5 inches under my bust and 34.5 inches around my bust. If I round the under bust measurement down to 28 inches, I'm a 32 band size. If I measure up then I'm a 34 band size. As for my bust if I round down to 34 inches I could have anywhere from a size A cup to a size C cup depending on the band size I decide on. If I round up to a 35 inch bust, I could have anywhere from a size B cup to a size D cup according to this video. More confused than ever...

If you all have difficult doing yourself... the best to pop into shop and ask for a trained staff to measure for you.... There nothing to be embrasses.... Good Luck..... Hey, this sizing is popular on internet but this is NOT correct. I'm European girl who lives in Japan, some professional Japanese Wacoal workers told me I'm 36C (D80 in Japan) and it works well. Not too big, not too tight. You know, too tight bra would be bad for lungs, especially at platying sports etc (bad for mental too sometimes). But this famous sizing says I'm 36A or 36B. so I bought those sizes at import lingerie shop. But my nipples got out of those bra cups lol. Waste of money...

This doesn't work for women who wear small band sizes (28, 30, 32), as the difference between the different cup sizes is smaller than an inch. Following their advices, I'd be a 30D, but I'm actually a 30E. There's nothing like trying different bra sizes in the store. Never, never order a bra you never tried!

A lot of comments state that this doesn't work for them. But, keep in mind that it also stated to use this as a STARTING point. Calculate using this method, then go try it on. If it doesn't fit, adjust to the next higher or lower band or cup size as you need. We are all different, ladies. Adjust your selection to what fits you best

My measurements are 33 inch underbust and 40" chest. My correct bra size is a 34DD. I am a retired clothing designer/manufacturer, the calculations used are with regard to the difference of the two measurements given above- (I dont add anything to the underbust measurement unless I have an odd number- in which case I add one inch to the measurement.) So, the difference between my two measurements of 34" and 40"', is six inches. 0" difference would make me an A size, 1" difference =AA size 2" =B 3" =BB 4" =CC 5" =D 6" =DD. Let me now how these calculations measure up for you girls! :-)

This is a load of rubbish! 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra *because of this measuring method*!! It puts me at 34C, but I actually wear a 30F. In my experience the best band size is just your underbust measurement rounded to the nearest even number, and the cup size is whatever fits! The dark red bra that the model is wearing at the start of the video is riding up at the back - the band size is probably a couple of sizes too big.

This is totally wrong. What is the logic behind adding so many inches to your underbust measurement? When you buy trousers, do you add 5 inches to your waist measurement? No, of course not, that would make no sense! The band size is your underbust measurement rounded to the nearest even number. The cup size measurement tends to work, but not always. The bras that the girl in the video tries on do not fit at all, and yet she still buys them... how is that supposed to help people to buy bras?!?

I'm a trained bra fitter and I wouldnt recommend this method - it rarely gives an accurate measurement. The best thing to do is try on a bra and check a couple of key things. Firstly the band should be quite firm - generally people have it too loose. You shouldnt be able to pull the band away from your body more than an inch. Most people wear at least one size too big, I have found. The wires of the cup should not be against your breast tissue - they should encase it completely and the central gore of the bra should be flat against your chest. I would advise going to a smaller boutique or specialist shop for a proper fitting (M&S and Debenhams vary in quality from my experience)

this is so wrong! puts me at a 32E, am actually 30G. what is the point in adding inches to your underbust measurement? suememoon's method was better, making me a 30FF. the girl in the video - her bra didn't fit at all - the back size was far too big. this method is one of the main reasons so many women are wearing the wrong size. what's worrying is that i even went for a professional fitting once to be told i was a 30E (this when i thought my 30G bra might be too small!) luckily this has only happened to me once... big boobed women - bravissimo is the most wonderful shop ever, selling a wonderful range of bras that manage to look good and fit at the same time (+ they do a clothing range that fits by taking waist and bust measurements into account. goodbye to baggy tops!) ps. ALWAYS try bras on in the shop - they all fit differently.

this method of measuring your band size doesn't work for everyone. It assumes that everyone's rib cage at the level of your breasts is exactly 4 inches bigger than the circumference below your breasts. So to confirm whether that's true for you, you should take an above-breast measurement right under your armpit. For example, if your underbust measurement is 28 (like mine) but your abovebust measurement is 30 (like mine) there's no way that your band size should be 32 since, if anything, the abovebust circumference would be bigger than the circumference of your rib cage below it, not smaller. Your band size should fall in the range of your above bust and under bust measurements.

I have recently lost a lot of weight and I needed reminding of the general sizing I should go for. This site gives that reading. But then go to Bravissimo or Figleaves where they give good hints and tips on whether the bra you are trying on is correct. To those who were saying it was way too wrong, did they measure in front of a mirror to make sure the tape was straight? Have they actually tried on those bra's that are recommended to see if they fit better than what they assume they are? Maybe instead of dismissing out of hand they should have a go at least. Don't forget that Katie Price is actually a 30G, what did you assume she was?

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong... This is the old fashioned way of bra sizing. This is out of date now. You don't need to add 4 or 5 to your underbust measurement - you get a band size too big. Instead, round your underbust to the nearest even number - that's your band size. E.G. 31in around would be a 32 band size. Then you work out the difference between your band size and bust measurement. For people saying 'this works, I wear the bra size it says I need!' you are almost definitely wearing a band size too big and cup size too small. Stupid videos like this are the reason 80% of people are wearing the wrong size. They tell me I should be a 32C, but I wear 28E. So.. There. Why do you think experts like Bravissimo don't use tape measurers?
