How To Organise A Poker Night For Friends

Organise A Poker Night For Friends. Feel like doing something different at weekend? Then follow our guide on how to organise a poker game at home. Once the poker starts, no one is a friend!
-
Step 1:
-
A venue
-
A venue - If you are having the poker party at your home make sure that you have enough space for all those invited.
-
Step 2:
-
Friends
-
Invite some friends round who are of a similar standard to you. If you are going to make a night of it you might want to get dressed up and look like pros!
-
Step 3:
-
A table
-
You should have a table that is big enough for everybody to sit round comfortably.
-
Step 4:
-
Chairs
-
Enough chairs for everyone you have invited - if you haven't got enough get a friend to bring a chair with them.
-
Step 5:
-
A table top
-
It is not essential but if you are using a wooden table a table cloth is a good idea. If you are going to organise a number of poker nights you could also invest in a specialised poker table top which has markings to aid the game - and to give a more casino feel.
-
Step 6:
-
Playing cards
-
A pack of playing cards with the jokers removed.
-
Step 7:
-
Chips
-
You can use anything as chips in a game of poker, like matchsticks, or pasta for a small investment however you will be able to get hold of some poker chips which will add a touch of class to your game. When choosing your chips there are many different types on the market - it might be worth looking on the internet first to see what is on offer.
-
Step 8:
-
Markers
-
You will also need markers for who is dealing and for the blinds. You could use coins for this. However you can also invest in specific markers or buttons which look professional.
-
Step 9:
-
Snacks
-
A few bowls of nachos and nuts will also go down well with you guests.
-
Step 10:
-
Money
-
Make sure that you have agreed with your friends how much money you will be playing with each time - and that people have bought money with them. You don't have to play for money - you can just distribute the chips equally and play for fun.
-
Step 11:
-
Blinds
-
You should also set the levels of your blinds before you start playing and decide when the blinds are raised. You can do this either by setting a time limit or simply increase blinds every time the play has rotated completely around the table.
-
Whatever the stakes just make sure everybody is in agreement - the last think you want is to stop being friends.
