How to organize a secular funeral. A secular funeral can either be a service organized by a humanist or a civil celebrant. A humanist funeral would be a funeral that has no religion at all.

Service will be about the person and only the person. A civil funeral is a funeral that can have an amount of religions so for instance, if you wanted to say The Lord's Prayer, that will be allowed. The secular funeral in general is more about the person than any particular religion or code of living.

You would have readings from family. You would have music that they liked. You would have generally a discussion about the person, a celebration of their life.

There will be very little religion in it at all. You would arrange this with the person you decided to take the service, your funeral director or if you want to, look on the internet, you can find a humanist local to you, or if you go to your local registrar, they will find a civil celebrant for you to take the service for you. Secular funerals will cost the same as a religious funeral.

The person taking the funeral, the humanist or the celebrant, will still need to be paid but they will be paid the same, more or less as a minister. Every other aspect of the funeral such as the coffin, the cars, the funeral cost, will be the same. So there won't be any increase in the cost if you decide to have a secular funeral.

And that's how we arrange a secular funeral. .
