Life's obstacles can sometimes feel overwhelming or insurmountable. Let 'The Life Chef' Mary Daniels help you to break those problems into little pieces, and get your life, or your business back on track again.
Today, I'm going to talk to you about how to overcome obstacles. When we hear the word 'obstacles', it immediately conjures up a barrier in our head, but obstacles can actually be your friend. Obstacles are something that can really help you grow quite quickly, and if you're somebody who really wants to start a project, whether it's a business, or even something that's happening in your personal life that you see as a big obstacle, what I want you to do is actually start to befriend it.
You want to break it down. Sometimes, if we carry something in our head for too long, we make it bigger than it actually is, so grab a sheet of paper and write down 'what is this obstacle?' What is it that we're building up, and actually look at it realistically from a completely different point of view. Break it down, and ask yourself 'what can I do today to make this a lot smaller?', so if it's something that's been ongoing, that you think to yourself 'I just can't tackle this, I don't know how to deal with this', break it down and ask yourself, almost coach yourself - 'what one thing can I do to overcome it?' Befriend it.
Imagine that it's there to teach you something. Get the learning from the obstacle first, that will help you look at in a fresh light with new energy. Maybe there's something that you need to actually accept.
Are you trying to change something that's not within your realm to change or control? Do you need to just let something go? Are there certain areas to this that maybe you just need to move on from? So I really want you to break this down, because nothing is too big to overcome. Do you have a support system in place? Someone who can maybe question your mindset? Are you allowing it to become something that isn't really there? So, what I want you to do to overcome obstacles is actually jot it down on a piece of paper first, ask yourself 'is it really as big as you're making it?' Look at how you can learn from it, befriend it, see what it's there to teach you, certain things that you maybe need to accept, and then move on from that and just take one step at a time - bite size pieces. And before you know it, everything will dissolve away.
