My name is Tom Gatliffe, maintenance and painter decorator just going to show you how we would paint a ceiling in just white emulsion. In case of painting a ceiling first up all we need to make sure surface is ready to paint. We would use a filler like this, which is tetrion filler or poly filler anything you like that.
We mix it with water and you fill any cracks or imperfections and you let it to dry, usually takes about an hour or two possibly. If lots of filling has to be done, you might leave it to the next day and come back. Sand it off smooth and possibly put primer over the top of the filler before you come to paint your ceiling.
What we will always use, usually for these type of white ceiling is Dulux Matt paint. This is again acrylic paint so it is water based. It takes about three hours to dry properly before you can put another coat over the top.
Also just to paint any cracks sometimes get in the corners of your ceiling with flexible filler, which doesn't come often quickly if you are using this type of poly filler stuff. Just make sure you cover the floor obviously. We will get paint patches as we were working.
So we got cotton dust sheet here. You could also use plastic dust sheet which comes cheaper if you don' have any cotton dust sheets and that's how you would paint your ceiling. .
