I am just going to show you a little bit about how to actually paint 'n gauge model railway scenery. I have got a little bit of rock base here which has been dry brushed in whey and then it had a wash of brown over the top to get that. It's not really about close up realism on this scale but that would be very hard to achieve, but it's more about giving the general impression.

These things are not usually viewed very close. Obviously, you want to spend time on specific areas to give some interest. What's happened here is, some of these sleepers, normally this, I paint the sleepers first and then the ballast afterwards.

Some of these sleepers have not been painted so I am just going to show you how you should paint those, how to paint these sleepers. It's a very simple process. We are not looking at this model from a couple of feet away, which is how it would be normally viewed.

It is just standing now as a bigger natural white area so I am just going to tone it down a bit by putting a little bit of brown, so that close up, it looks a wry old mess, but from a distance, it looks fine and that's how these things are normally viewed from a great distance. So filling in, keep going along here, you know, it's little areas that are standing up. Another thing, you should really try and do if you are track is basically is out of the box, it's going to be very shiny metal so you just need to tone that metal down that has taken the shine off the rails.

If you find paint on top of the track, you can just scratch that paint off and then the train will run fine again. It's just that top part that connects to the wheels. And that's how to paint 'n gauge model railways. .
