Want to do some DIY? Panelling can be challenging to paint. This Videojug tutorial will teach you how to paint panelling.
I'm now going to show you how to paint panelling. First thing you want to do is actually, you will see I have applied knotting, on to all the knots. This stops any resin bleeding through your paint system, and the way to do this is to get your knotting, just put some on a rag, and just wipe over each knot.
If you've got a large area to do, you can use a small brush for this, if it may help you, if you want to do it quicker. It dries very quickly, within sort of ten minutes, so it does allow you to carry on painting fairly quickly. Once the knotting is dry, we'll get our paint, and we will start brushing in the grooves first.
Try and keep it all in, flowing with the grain of the wood. I recommend that you do one panel at a time. Reason for doing this is if you start working over to one or two or three panels before completing it, it may dry.
So if you do one panel, laying it off upwards as you go along, this way, you keep a wet edge. Along the groove first, laying off in one direction, make sure you have a nice even coat. When you're happy that it's even all over, lay it off in one direction.
It then flows straight into the one that you've just done and then continue on to the other. When it's nice and even, lay it off in one direction. And that's how to paint panelling. .
