How To Paint Stripes On A Wall
Learn how to paint stripes on to a wall with expert DIY advice from VideoJug and Aspect Maintenance.
Okay, my name's Tom, I work for Aspect Maintenance, I'm a decorator, and I'm going to show you how we would usually paint a stripe onto a wall. So for the purposes of this demonstration we're just going to use a sheet of plasterboard so it's like a plasterboard wall, and what we're going to do is just paint a stripe right down the middle and hopefully get a nice clean, straight line, which is what you're after. Okay, so first thing you do is put masking tape as you want the line to appear.
Nice straight line. You can use a low tack masking tape so it peels right off nice and easy, and just make sure that it's fixed down firmly along the edge where you're going to paint. Okay, and then once you've done that, you can apply the paint either by brush or roller or mini roller, however big or wide you want the stripe.
If it's a very big stripe then obviously you might use a proper motion roller, but for this one we're just going to use a little mini roller, because we just want to do a nice, small, green stripe. So once you've got your tape in place, roll the plasterboard . Evenly spread the color.
Always roll your roller, and just, once you've got the paint on your roller just move it around just so that it's spread out nice and evenly. And once you've done that, you leave it to dry and you take the tape off. For the purposes of this one we'll just take the tape off to show you how it should look and hopefully, we'll have a nice, clean straight line here going.
Let's have a look. And there's your stripe, and obviously you can do it any number of colors so if you've got a nice whatever color background first, let that dry off before you put your tape on, paint it, peel it off, and you've got your stripe. And that's how you paint a stripe on a wall. .
