How To Paint Wood Panelling
To keep wood panelling looking fresh and tidy, you might need to repaint it. The materials needed, especially the kind of paint, and the steps on how to paint wood panelling are all in this short film.
I'm just going to show you how to paint a wood panelling. So first of all, what you want is an oil-based paint. We use Dulux Undercoat.
Because we're painting over preciously painted wood panelling, we're going into undercoat and then after that, you would put your topcoat on which, again, would be an oil-based point, probably eggshell, glass or whichever one you prefer. So, what we're going to do first of all is just sand off the woodwork, prepare it to be repainted, dust it off, use a dust brush or you can get a Hoover and just take off the excess dust before you paint it. Otherwise, you will be left with quite a grainy finish and it's not going to look very nice when you've finished the job.
So always make sure you brush off the dust first and then, away you go. Put your masking tape on, just to make sure you're not going to get paint on the actual woodwork itself, the work top, you want to protect that, and then a drop sheet. You can use plastic sheet or anything.
You can use paper. Whatever it is, you just want to make sure that you're not getting oil paint onto wood because if you get oil paint on wood, it's very difficult to get off. Okay.
And that's how you paint wood panelling.
