Ingredients

  • vegetable oil
  • 1 salmon fillet
  • salt
  • pepper

Method

Evenly glaze the bottom of a frying pan with vegetable oil. Make sure to use vegetable oil rather than olive oil, as olive oil burns at a very low temperature and will spoil the taste of the fish.

Season the fillet with a pinch of salt and pepper on both sides and place it in the pan. A fillet of around 180 grams will only take around 1 and a half minutes to cook on each side so keep it moving.

Turn the heat down and cook for a further 30 seconds on each side. If you like your fish pink in the middle, serve immediately. If you like it cooked through, fry for a further minute, but ensure that the fat doesn't burn.
