Hi, my name is Ghamza Jacobs. I am an IT trainer with New Horizons in London. I am here today just to show you a couple of cool little tips and tricks on Windows 7 and Office 2003.
How to permanently enable Macros in excel 2010? Blocking macros is something Microsoft Excel has done since its inception pretty much. One of the reasons we do this is to prevent against malicious code, malicious files that may attack your system. But for end users, it can be extremely annoying.
Because, as of course you may have seen in one of the videos, we have done earlier, if I open up My File, I got to hit enable and enable each time. Now, 2010 manages slightly better than 2007 but still you may have a group of files that you have stored within a location, that you would like to enable all of the macros for. Now, one method that I advise most of my clients to do this is to go into the thrust sync.
Now, if you are working with macros, you probably already know if you got a file with the office button option. You want to enable the developer tab. This is under customized event in 2010.
Under 2007, it's under the office button. Excel options, developer tab. Once you have that up, it's quite easy to go into the developer tab and look at the macros sitting over here.
Now, mini users I have worked with, simply hit this button, enable all Macros. Now, this is normally like all my house alarms that's annoying me. So I am just going to turn it off permanently and never turn it on again.
Not really a security solution, you wanna leave it on. Disable all macros with notifications. A much better way to manage this is to add trusted location down the left hand side here.
So I can go to trusted locations. And what I tend to advise most people over here, add a location for your commonly used files. Literally, all of my files are stored under my documents.
I can add that in as a location. I will thrust sub folders okay, this way any excel file that store in that location will automatically be thrusted. The Macros will be automatically enabled, and will just run when you open the file.
Clicking okay, you have now permanently enabled Macros for certain folder types.
