How To Pickle Beetroot

Do you love pickles? They are easier to make at home than you might think! In this cookery tutorial chef Matt Kemp shows you how to make homemade pickled beetroot - perfect for salads or sandwiches.

Step 1: Sterilize your Jars

Place your Kilner jars in boiling water to ensure they are sterilized.

Step 2: Cook the Beetroots

Add your unpeeled beetroots to a pan filled with water. Add some vinegar, place on the hob and bring to the boil. Cook for about 35 minutes. Remove and peel your beetroots. Add to a Kilner jar.

Step 3: Make the Pickling Liquid

Add some vinegar to a pan along with 6 tbsp of sugar. Place on the hob and heat on a medium heat until hot. Pour the mixture into the Kilner jar along with the beetroot. Leave on a shelf for 3 months and you'll be left with beautiful pickled beetroot ready to serve.
