I am going to show you how to pickle beetroot. The first thing we need to do is cook it off. I am doing that in a sec but I am going to talk to you about the jars; these are called Kilner jars.

And you need to sterilize them by putting them in boiling water for 15 minutes and then just leave them. Also, just save in mind the saving ingredients that you have got because you will need to pack them in the jar, so I have done this before, I have actually measured up, chosen specifically which are small; obviously, we are going to peel them as well but we need to pack them in the jar, so you want as many as you think is going to fit in and put these in to some water. You just come in and see what I am doing over here.

I am going to put a little bit of vinegar in there and I am going to stick that on the stove and I'm going to cook those. Now, I need a little baby beet so that I can cook it about 10 minutes or so. As soon as they are cooked, we will move on to the next stage.

Took about 35 minutes to cook unless we know beetroot is something you need to cook first and then peel. I am going to put those in there, and you will see that they start to place there and then I am going to put some protective gloves on because I don't want my hands to go intrude the color. And then, we will start pickling them.

But before we do that, what I have actually done in advance, move that other way, is that I filled this Kilner jar with vinegar. I am just going to pour the vinegar into the pan with about 6 tablespoons of sugar that now goes on the stove. I am going to give that a mix until it is nicely dissolved, so we come back to that in a couple of minutes' time.

So I have just peeled all of those and you can see I have got just enough to just ready pack them in and over here what I did was I took my vinegar and sugar, and I am just going to fill the Kilner jar as far as it will go cover the ingredients, you want all the ingredients completely covered as there are now. If they are not completely covered, they won't preserve, put the lid on, there we go, doesn't matter if it leaks out. What you can now do with that is stick it on the shelf for 3 months and forget about it and you will end up with beautiful pickle beetroot. .
