How To Plait Classic Pigtails

Hairdresser Leila Karalic from Saco Hair in London shows you how to plait your pigtails.
-
Apply smoothing cream to the hair, avoiding the scalp as adding cream to the roots will make it greasy.
-
Form a central parting with a comb, unless you have a strong side hairline such as a cowslick. In this case, the parting can start off-centre as long as it moves towards the middle by the time you reach the top of the crown.
-
Clip one side of your hair away from the other. Comb the unclipped side behind the ears in the direction you want the plait to go.
-
Divide the hair into 3 sections and plait it as close to the scalp as possible.
-
Tie the end with an elastic band and plait the other side.
-
Spray your hair with hairspray to keep the style in place, and use a comb to push any stray hairs into the plait.
