How To Plait Your Hair

Lauralyn from the Braiding Art Academy in London explains how to make a standard plaited look on European hair.

Hi, my name is Lauralyn from the Braiding Art Academy in London. I am about to show you how to do a standard plait in European hair. You take free even sections of hair.

After you've taken out your section to be braided, you then organize them into your hand, and continue the technique of the outside strand of hair gone over the middle strand, and then repeat the same passing on the other side, all the way down to the bottom of the hair shaft. And because this is European hair, we are securing it with an elastic band. I am going to show you another example: see, you take free separate sections, organize them in your hands and you take the outside section, put over the middle section, repeat this process in the other side, see the outside section pin over the middle, and then take in the other outside section, pin over the middle again, this gives you a plated grade look.

Continue this technique all the way down to the bottom of the hair shaft. We are going to secure with an elastic band because this is European hair, but you should always cut an elastic band when removing it. Pulling out of your hair, this will cause breakage if you are pulling out! .
