How To Plan A Butterfly Wedding

Ellie: Hi, I'm Ellie.
Charlotte: And I'm Charlotte, and we run a wedding boutique.
Elle: And today we're going to talk to you about how to plan your wedding.


Charlotte: If you love butterflies and you're thinking about planning a butterfly wedding, you need to decide how far you're going to take your obsession with butterflies. Is it just going to be a little hint, within a color that you choose, or are you going to go the whole hog, and the whole wedding is designed around butterflies? These days, there are so many different elements of butterflies that you have, they have named places, butterflies can have matching rings. You can have table names.


Ellie: You can have butterflies in your invitations, which actually, when you open the invitation which is a butterfly, little butterflies that just drop out.
Charlotte: Yes, like table confetti, you can have invites down to the flower girls.
Ellie: For the flower girls, you can either do one of two things, you can have them with wings on, so they are like mini butterflies.

Or, they can have a little butterfly on their dress, sometimes with a sash and then you can have butterflies. Also you need to think about, do you want your adult bridesmaids, obviously you don't want them wearing wings, and then maybe you might, but do they have an element of a butterfly? Maybe it's a butterfly motif on the dress, or something like that, and again think about your dress. You don't necessarily want to sort of be too over the top with butterflies, but maybe it's the way you accessorize it.

Also, you need to think about what the men are going to wear, really they probably don't want to wear butterflies and you don't want to overtake everything. Maybe just keep them in the usual boring suit, and it's actually just the women.
Charlotte: And they can pick up the color in the man's tie or cravat to sort of keep the butterfly color that you've chosen I think.

And, you know, think about the table decorations and the invites and I think that's going to get across the theme. And don't forget the cake! You can have the most amazing cake with butterflies on it, and I think it's the most subtle details I think. And you know what you were saying about the adult bridesmaids?
Ellie: Yeah.


Charlotte: It'd be quite nice if you chose some colors, you know like a print or something, maybe like that, so they had, you know, ways of getting the detailing of the butterfly.
Ellie: That's cute, I think shoes.
Charlotte: Butterfly shoes.


Ellie: It's all about accessorizing I think, rather than having, a sort of butterfly outfit, it's all about the different bits. So when the guests open the invitation, there's a butterfly there, as soon as they arrive at the venue, there are butterflies there. The whole thing kind of has this very romantic butterfly feel about it.


Charlotte: And your table names could also be different names of butterflies.
