How To Plan A Graduation Party: This video is designed to help you organize a Graduation Party, and will give you ideas how to make it more memorable and special for all the graduating students.
Hi, my name is Amy and I'm a wedding and event planner. I have planned events mainly specializing in weddings, however, I have planned events from Christmas to corporate. And I'm going to give you some tips that I hope will help for you to plan events in the future.
I'm going to talk to you about how to plan a graduation party. The first thing you need to consider is know your audience. The people who are going to be graduating are gonna be 21 plus.
So that does mean that there is going to be an alcohol-fuelled party. One of the things you might want to consider is whether you want to have a family celebration or a celebration just for the students. Or whether you want to organize it so is a family celebration followed by an after party for the students.
Obviously at graduations, everyone has their family and friends around them in order to celebrate with them as it is a big occassion for most students graduating. So what you might want to consider is whether you want it to be a formal event or something quite informal. You could organize a dinner, or you could organize so as a fingerfood buffet with drinks.
One of the ideas that you could choose is to have a yearbook just reflecting the time that everyone spent studying. Something that people can sign so that they can then take that away as a keepsake. Another idea that you could have would be to have a picture mount that everybody can sign, which a group photo of all of the students graduating can then be put into in a frame which can then be presented in the university.
It might be a nice idea to have a photographer at the party taking photos of everyone. Obviously, everyone wants to remember the day and wants to have pictures that they can then reflect back on in years to come. It doesn't mean that you have to organize a professional photographer if the university has a department of photography.
It might be worth asking one of the students if they will take photos possibly as part of their course work, maybe one of their lower year students could do this for you. Another idea you could have is whether to have a band or DJ. Whether to have this in a hall at the university or whether you organize this in a local restaurant or club or bar.
It might be a nice idea to organize an award ceremony with trophies for different achievements that people have class clowns, all the kinds of regular ideas that people have that they want to award people for. It might be nice to organize for few speeches from various people just to say their thanks and congratulations to the students graduating. There are kinds of music that you'd want to have, would be upbeat and modern, something that people can dance to.
Remember it's a celebration. You might want to also arrange for possibly some champagne or prosecco in order to have a toast for everyone to congratulate them on graduating. I hope this will help in planning a graduation party.
