Hi. My name's Amy, and I'm a wedding and event planner. I have planned events, mainly specializing in weddings, however I have planned events from Christmas to corporate, and I'm going to give you some tips that I hope will help for you to plan events in the future.

I'm going to talk to you about how to plan a Halloween party. You will want to have a theme. Obviously, the most traditional would be to have a Halloween theme, having children dressing up as witches, as goblins, skeletons, various items.

You will also want to organize to decorate the venue that this is going to be taking place, whether it be an external venue or at your house. It might be worth, if you have got children, to organize for them to decorate different items that you can have around the house. It might be a nice lead-up to the party for the few weeks leading up, to have them create the decorations and be able to show those off to their friends.

If you are going to take the children attending to do trick or treating around the local area, you need to make sure that you've got plenty of adult supervision, in order to make sure that the children are safe when you are going to be taking them around. You want to have lots of sweets, but not too many as we don't want to rot the children's teeth, and lots of different activities. Things like apple-bobbing, quite popular games to play, as well as the more kind of traditional party games that you could play.

You might want to organize for the children to have goodie bags that they can take away at the end of the day.
You might want to organize for the children to carve pumpkins. If you are going to do this, you need to make sure that there is plenty of newspaper on the floor to collect up the debris from the pumpkins, as well as putting aprons on the children to protect their clothes.

This is always quite a nice idea. There are a lot of craft shops that will be able to provide cutting equipment that is suitable for children, so that they won't get hurt doing this. You might want to organize food that relates to this.

You could organize things like spaghetti, and tell the children that this is snake soup. Different ideas just to create the illusion for the children, so that they keep the Halloween theme going. You might also want to tell scary stories. Please make sure that you are aware of the audience that you're speaking to, depending on the age of the children, to make sure that the scary stories are not too scary for them.

You might want to have some back-up stories in your repertoire, just in case the children are not scared by the ones that you've told them, so you have some slightly scarier ones, but just test the water with the children and see what they're kind of prepared for. I hope this has helped to organize a Halloween party.
