Do you have that special someone, or even a co-worker that you'd like to surprise? Have you seen other people throw surprise parties and you'd like to learn how? Then, this video from VideoJug will give you some practical tips on planning a surprise party.
Hi, my name is Amy, and I'm a wedding and event planner. I have planned events mainly specializing in weddings, however I have planned events from Christmas to corporate. And I'm going to give you some tips that I hope will help for you to plan events in the future.
I'm going to talk to you about how to plan a surprise party. First thing you need to consider is what kind of occasion it is for. Whether it's a birthday party, a leaving party, a celebration of somebody getting engaged, for example.
You'll need to send out invites to the guests, but make sure that you're discreet about this, and that you make sure that everybody is aware it's a secret. So that the person that the party is intended for, doesn't find out about this. You'll need to organize a convenient location for this, either at a venue or at a home.
If it's a leaving party for the work, you might want to organize this in part of the office space. You'll need to make sure that the place you organize this for is a convenient place. Somewhere that you'll be able to easily get the intended person to without arousing too much suspicion.
So you'll need to come up with a good excuse. If it's for a work leaving party, it might be a bit of a good idea to organize for them to be called into the manager's office telling them that they're in trouble, so that it really is a surprise when everyone jumps out with a party for them. As they'll go in there expecting to be in trouble.
You need to make sure that guests arrive early and are discreet about arriving. Make sure that they park out of sight so that nobody is aware of what's happening. You'll want to organize for everyone to hide out of the way, and make sure that you've got lights turned off for example, so that when they do arrive, they can all jump out and shout surprise.
You might want to have video cameras to film the surprise just so that they've got a keepsake of the event. You might want to organize party poppers, and streamers and silly string for them as well as some food and drink in order to celebrate. It might be a nice idea to organize a surprise guest for the event, maybe somebody that they haven't seen in awhile; maybe somebody who's been away abroad; or someone that they've wanted to see for awhile, but haven't been able to.
This will add to the surprise, and will be an added touch for them. I hope this has helped in planning a surprise party.
