How To Plant Rhubarb
Watch this video and learn how to plant rhubarb. You will also learn how to properly take off the rhubarb plant every summer.
Today, I'm going to show you how to plant rhubarb. Rhubarb is a very nutritious fruit. The first thing you need to do is prepare the hole.
Once you've dug a deep enough hole, you need to add plenty of manure through the planting hole. You needed really good quality well-rotted manure. Now, pour it into the hole and also add some to the soil that you've dug out of the hole.
Mix it around in the hole like this then tap the plant out of its pot. Put it in the ground, like that, so the soil level is about level with the top of the plant, like that, and then back fill it. You then mulch the new plant heavily with well-rotted manure.
And you do this every year after planting because rhubarb is very hungry and needs lots of nutrients, and it gets that from the manure that we put around the top each year. So, you need to water the plant as well, the rhubarb plant. They need to be kept well-watered.
They're quite thirsty and hungry plants. Water, obviously, particularly in very dry spells. The next stage is to, every summer, these stems will grow up much longer than this, and you just harvest them and cut them down with a knife.
And that's it. That's how you plant rhubarb. .
