How To Plant Wisteria
In this video, professional garden designer Linsey Evans will give you tips on how to plant and look after wisteria plants.
Hi, here's how you plant a wisteria. Dig a hole, slightly larger and slightly wider than the pot the wisteria is supplied in. Put a handful of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the base of the hole.
Add a little bit of general purpose fertilizer. Plunge the plant into a bucket of cold water, and make sure that it is really, really wet before you place it into the hole. Remove the plant from its pot and just slightly tease out the root ball.
Place the plant into the hole so that the top of the root ball is level with the soil. Replace the soil around the plant, firming it in gently with your heel. Water the plant in well, and make sure that it angles towards its support.
Tie it in, apply a nice thick top dressing of mulch around the base of the plant, and there you are, that's how you plant a wisteria. .
