Hi, I'm Rick from the Music Workshop Company, and I'm going to show you some tips on how to drum. So here are some quick tips on how to play a bass drum. Try and use as little energy as possible when first starting out.
So the force is coming from your toes. Now, as you get quicker, you will need to raise your heel. So you are still using your toes.
By raising your heel, you are allowing more movement in your foot, whereas if your heel is just on the floor, movement is limited. But that doesn't matter so much when you are just playing simply. If you raise your heel up, try to refrain from having your foot leave the pedal, this is unnecessary energy.
So, to recap, simple bass drum beats, minimal movement. More technical, more quick, bass drum, heel up. .
