Step 1: You will need

  • A deck of cards
  • Two players

Step 2: Rules

Roughly divide the pack in half. Each player holds their half face down. Players take turns to turn over their top card and place it on the table. There are two different types of card - pay cards and ordinary cards. The pay cards are the ace, king, queen, and jack and the 2-10 are ordinary cards. Each player alternates placing down their top card until a pay card appears. The opponent of the player who played the pay card must pay for it by playing several cards in succession:

4 ordinary cards for an ace
3 ordinary cards for a king
2 ordinary cards for a queen
1 ordinary card for a jack

Once the payment is complete, the player who dealt the pay card picks up the pile and places it at the bottom of their cards.

If while paying for a card, you turn a pay card over yourself, the previous pay card is cancelled and your opponent has to pay for your new pay card.

The player who runs out of cards loses.
