How To Play Piano By Ear
Want to jam along with the band? In this video Bob Haddrell, teacher at the London Music School, shows you a basic chord progression that will fit with thousands of your favourite pop songs!
- If you are trying to play by ear, start by playing in the key of C. The key of C doesn't have any sharps or flats , so on the piano, it is all the white notes. This will make it easier to play chord progressions.
- Once you have worked out the chords progressions in the key of C, you can transpose them to other keys. The chords themselves will be the same distance apart whatever key they are in.
- The majority of pop music is based on the chord sequence 1-6-4-5, in the key of C this is C-Am-F-G.
