How To Play The Chord Of D Major On The Guitar

Have you ever wanted to play the guitar? Do you want to impress your friends in any situation? Watch our short film to learn how to play the D Major chord.

Before you start to play check that your guitar is in tune. Watch our other films on how to tune your guitar, if you are unsure.
To play the D Major chord, place the first finger on the G string, second fret, the second finger on the top E string, second fret and the third finger on the B string, third fret. This chord can only be played from the D string upwards.
Strum down to perfect the chord.
Some good tips to remember are to pull the thumb down behind the neck of the guitar and play on your finger tips , keeping them tunnelled. Think of the D chord as a triangle .
Practise the chord by strumming to this pattern. Down... Down.. Up…..// down...down... up and so on.
If you can play the G chord, try a simple progression between the D and G chords using the same pattern of down... Down.. Up…..// down...down... Up.
If you are not sure about the G chord watch our other films to learn how to play the other chords.
