How To Play The Chord Of G Major On The Guitar

You Will Need

Before you start to play check that your guitar is in tune. Watch our other films on how to tune your guitar, if you are unsure.

To play the G Major chord, place your index finger on the A string, second fret, the second finger on the bottom E string on the third fret and the third finger on the B string on the third fret.

Then put the little finger will on the top E string on the third fret. Strum the strings to practise the chord.

Try to keep your fingers tunnelled and play on your tips. Keep the thumb low at the back of the neck and don't squeeze too hard.

If you know the D chord, practise strumming between the two chords. Avoid any buzzing or humming and make sure the notes sound clean.
