How To Play The Front Foot Leg Glance
How To Play The Front Foot Leg Glance. Slogging is not always the best option when you are at bat. Subtler shots like this leg glance can beat even the best field settings, and earn you some valuable runs.
Step 1: Lean forward
Lean towards the line of the ball with head and front shoulder, placing the weight on the bent front leg
Step 2: Swing the bat down
Bring the bat through as straight a path as possible, turning the bat face slightly towards the leg side Make contact with the ball in front of the front pad
Make sure your head is over the ball, with your weight on your front foot This will keep the ball on the ground, rather than flying dangerously in the air
Step 3: Control of the shot
Control the shot with the top hand, glancing the ball away. The top hand will help keep the ball on the ground
Tips & Comments
i dont think this is a very good technique for beginners i feel you are always best off waiting for the ball to come to you and not play the ball very far in front of your pad
where can i get this DVD? i'm from austria
Watch the Bob Woolmer coaching DVD. Don't swing the bat round like above - keep it vertical at all times but rotate your top wrist to the left to turn the blade. This way you leave more bat in front in case you miss time the shot. You still get the same result but less chance of getting out.
