How To Play Wii Golf

Hi I'm Ross. I'm the Nintendo specialist here at GAME and I'm here today to teach you golf on Wii sports. First of all if you place your Wii Sports disc into your console you'll come to this main screen.

What you then need to do is select the golf option and choose between 1 to 4 players. I'll obviously play just play one player and choose your character within the game. Once loaded it will give you a choice of options of three whole games on either beginner, intermediate, or expert or you can just go straight into a nine hole game.

What I'll do today is to go into the beginner option which will give us a slight tutorial and then we'll play one through one of the holes. Once loaded you need to swing your Wii remote just as if you're holding a golf club. What we'll do is give you a quick tutorial here.

Hold the Wii remote down towards the ground. The harder you swing the more power your ball will receive. If you swing too hard the swing gauge will actually move left or right giving you slice or hook.

So, once you do some of these practice swings to try and find out the perfect power, we'll move straight in and try to get through this hole under par. To actually make your shot hold your Wii remote down to the ground and press the 'A' button. This will move your character closer to the ball as if you're going to hit it and then swing as if you're playing golf.

It will automatically select your club for you. You just need to decide how hard you need to hit it. This is telling me - based on the map on the left hand side - that I can actually change the direction of the shot with the control pad on the Wii remote which you can see on the right hand side of the screen.

You can also see how far I need to hit it, so I need to go about three quarters power. I can have a couple of practice swings just to see where I need to get power to. Again it's showing me on the right hand side that if I use full power I'll go just over the hole.

If I get this under full power we should be alright. I can change direction with the controller trying to judge the gradient of the green. So that's how you play Wii golf on Wii sports.
