How To Polish Shoes With Olive Oil
Next time your shoes are looking a little dull, don't reach for the commercial shoe polish. Some shoe polish contains chemicals that could be absorbed through your skin or cause you harm if inhaled. Follow these easy steps to find out how to polish your shoes the eco-friendly and inexpensive way using olive oil.
Step 1: The Wipe Down
Take a damp rag and rub the outside of your shoes to remove any dirt or dust. If your shoes have laces, take them out before you start wiping them down. Once cleaned, apply some olive oil to your dry rag and work it into the leather until you see a glossy finish.
Step 2: Get Buffed
Use your chamois cloth to buff the surface of your shoes to a nice, smooth shine. Your shoes and mother earth will thank you for using an all-natural and eco-friendly shoe polish.
Tips & Comments
After extensive testing (with earthling footwear) it turns out that this does work but not as described here. Use one piece of cloth or kitchen towel, a little oil and just keep wiping. Don't buff and don't use another cloth to shine, use one and keep wiping until it's not too oily but hasn't gone dull. Then stop.
