Clare Watson shows us how to wear more formal attire for the workplace. Some great advice from a fashion expert on how to power dress without the shoulder pads.
Step 1: Work wear
Work wear should look professional and help you to feel confident. It doesn't mean you have to dress like a man.
Step 2: Individuality
You can wear something a little more individualized without being unprofessional.
Step 3: Shoes
Keep your shoes traditional to help maintain formality in the look.

Liked the outfit that was showed. Makes a nice change from a formal suit. Only dress that makes you feel confident and comfortable.
Formal suits look so bad on women and show a lack of imagination - this stylist has got it right.
Dresssing for business? Style should be flattering, but not too sexy. No low-cut blouses. Skirts should be just above the knee. Suits, [pant suits as well], should exibit your character. Someone who is prudish shouldn't wear flashy outfits, it sends mixed signals. Women should be noticed, but not ridiculed for their dress. Mid-heels are nice, but not stilleto's. Open toes are out. All suits should have an open neck, no ties. A suit top should never be buttoned down and worn loose, never form-fitting. A woman's dress extends her integrity. A client who salivates over a woman and how she is dressed, tends to ignore the product. Dress conservatively. From a guy.
i like the tanktop effect but whats with the shirt sleeves? she looks like a pirate! plus the skirt makes her look youger and more girly, def not a more powerful woman. Sorry but im not buying this
what a complete load of guff
The top is really not flattering.
very nice! BUT WEARING THAT TO WORK? SEEING YOUR MANAGER LIKE THAT? MY MANAGER IS STRICT YOU KNOW. vERY STRICT. AND YOU THINK THAT STYLE IS BETTER? Oh man! That style is one you would wear when you're at the mall
I'd definitely wear it to work. Where is that skirt from? Would help if you included details of where each of the clothes come from
hey, you know the first style looks better! The second style looks okay, but not as good as suits! Do you really know your stuff?
cute outfit but i doubt it would work at work
