How To Powerslide On A Skateboard
A sponsored skateboarder explains and demonstrates how to powerslide on a skateboard.
Hi! I'm Bryce Cambell, a sponsored skateboarder. We're going to talk about how to powerslide on a skateboard. Powersliding is when the four wheels are touching the ground and you move sideways, or effectively your body is going forwards or backwards.
Its quite a tricky one because the wheels will gain traction since they're made of urethane, so depending on how soft or hard. The harder your wheels are, the easier its going to be to power slide because the least traction its going to get. The softer, the more traction it's going to get, so effectively making it harder to power slide.
So by moving the board sideways, lifting your body weight up so that there's less pressure on your feet, applying pressure to the heels of your feet, pushing the board out and kind of slightly leaning back will allow the board to move forward across the concrete. So we're gonna have a look at that; how to do it. And that is how you powerslide on a board.
Now this surface is probably not the most ideal surface for powersliding on. You want to ideally want to find something really smooth like a hard pack, or car park or something even applying a bit of moisture to the surface will allow you to slide more. It's a quite one to grasp, but once you do grasp it, it's a really fun new trick.
You can do it anywhere. You can do it slow down, you can do it down hills. It's just really fun.
