Hi, I'm Rick from the Music Workshop Company and I'm going to show you some tips on how to drum. I'm going to give you some tips now, on how to practice the drums, things you should be looking out for. First of all, with your high hat, make sure that the clutch is tightened.

Otherwise, you will end up with this sort of sound, which sounds quite messy. If you push the lever down a little bit and then tighten the clutch, you'll have some room. Generally, keep the high hat down for practicing basic rhythms.

Try to refrain from going towards the edge of the high hat. Try to stay to the edge, around here. When you're doing drum fills and playing around the drum kit, try not to make too much effort.

A common thing done with beginners is making all of that effort. Try just to use your wrists and of course, the main thing, practice it slowly, even slower. Also, when you are playing, try not to give yourself any unnecessary things to do.

Such as when you are playing the base drum, keep your foot on the base drum, rather than pushing your foot up like that. This is quite a common mistake. Try and keep all of your foot on the drum.

Stay as relaxed as possible and always practice slowly. .
