How To Prepare A Bathroom Wall For Decorating
Step 1: Introduction
How to prepare a bathroom wall for decorating. Left to their own devices, bathrooms can quickly become drab and tired-looking. Luckily, decorating your bathroom is an easy job. Here are a few simple tricks and tips from Polycell to show you how it’s done
Step 2: Removing mould
Any mould on the walls will need to be gotten rid of before you paint. Use Polycell 3 in 1 Mould Killer that kills mould and prevents it from growing again. It contains a strong fungicide so always wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Spray on, wetting the surface thoroughly. After 5 to 10 minutes, wipe off with a wet cloth and paint when dry.
Step 3: Protecting from damp
First, fix the cause of the damp. Then, any wet patches can be sealed and covered with Polycell One Coat Damp Seal. Before applying, remove any wallpaper or loose paint then brush the damp sealer evenly in the area to be treated and beyond. Leave it overnight and it will be ready to decorate.
Step 4: Filling cracks
Before you start, you’ll need to prepare the area by raking up the gap with the edge of a filling knife. For damp areas like gutterings and kitchens, use Polycell Moisture Resistant Polyfilla. Then, check that the cracks are dry and free from loose material. Knead the tube and squeeze the filler directly into the crack in a continuous beam before levelling off with a wet round-edge tool like a lollipop stick and make sure you get rid of any excess filler before it dries.
