Step 1: Time

Consider how long you will be out, and what you will be doing

Step 2: Clothes

Look at what you will be wearing, if you will need shelter, and if a fire will be necessary

Step 3: Shelter

If you know you will be out for sometime, take a tarpaulin, tent, or construct natural protection such as a debris hut or lean-to shelter.

Step 4: Fire

If you require extra warmth, link your shelter with a fire which reflects towards the shelter for maximum heat.

Step 5: Equipment

Consider whether there is dry tinder in the area, and whether you need to take equipment to get this, such as a knife, or axe.
