How To Prepare Strawberry And Rhubarb Jam From Scratch

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 kg rhubarb, sliced
- 1 1/2 kg strawberries, sliced
- 1 1/2 kg granulated sugar
- 1 butter
Method
Add the chopped rhubarb, chopper strawberries and half the sugar to a large pan, mix well, then add the other half of the sugar and mix again.
Put the pan on the hob at a low temperature and cook for 30 minutes, stirring constantly. As it heats up a foam will appear, this is when you should add the butter.
After 30 minutes check the jam; if 3-4 drops cling together when you drip the jam off a spoon, the jam is ready.
Sterilise the jam pot lids in warm water and heat the jars in the oven, then fill the jars with the jam using an oven glove to avoid burning yourself.
