How To Prevent Head Lice
Head lice is quite a nuisance especially in kids. Learn their mode of transmission, how to get rid of them naturally and prevent the occurrence of head lice. Watch now.
This video is for those of you who want to prevent head lice. Now, head lice are small parasites that live in the scalp and feed off small amounts of blood from the scalp and then lay their eggs in hair strands. So how do you stop yourself from getting head lice.
Well, unfortunately kids get them a lot because they tend to be in close contact with a lot of children, so my top tip for your children if you're worried about trying to prevent it, is to prevent head to head contact. Now, head lice cannot leap from one person to another, they tend to crawl from hair strand to hair strand, so if you can get your child to avoid head to head contact it's going to make it much less likely to get head lice. If you have a family member who has head lice, you must treat them immediately and I would also advise you to wash any clothes that they have been wearing or bed linens or towels.
If you've got an item that you want to clean but you can't wash I, like for example a hair brush then a good option would be to put it in a plastic bag and then pop it in a freezer for 24 hours and then that should kill off any of the head ice that might still be present. If your child is going on a sleep over then try and provide them with their mown sleeping bag and pillow just to avoid sharing with the children if there is known to be head lice around and equally it would probably be best if you avoid sharing coats or ear muffs or scarves for the same reason. Now if you have been exposed to head lice and you want to some natural options for preventing them from taking up residence in your head then vinegar is a good natural source for prevention.
The acidity in vinegar puts head lice off so you can either mix it 50/50 with water and use it as a spray or use it and even comb it through your hair neat as a way of putting head lice off. Another natural option would be tea tree oil, you could put ten drops or so in a shampoo or a conditioner and use it regularly on your hair and this may also help reduce your risk in getting head lice. So I hope these have been useful but as I said before it is important that if you do have head lice to get them treated quickly.
