This video is for those of you who want to know how to prevent stretch marks. Now stretch marks occur because of over stretched skin and this can happen with rapid loss or weight gain and in pregnancy and what you'll notice is some purple blue lines on your skin which eventually fade to white. So what can you do to prevent stretch marks? Well unfortunately a lot of it will depend on your skin type and your genes.

For example, if your mom had stretch marks when she was pregnant with you then chances are that you may be prone to stretch marks yourself. Now, creams and lotions have long been advised to try and reduce stretch marks and although they haven t necessarily been proven to improve because they don't penetrate the deeper layers of the dermis, anecdotally a lot of people do say they both help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and also to prevent them so it is worth a try. Now, creams that contain thing like coco butter, shay butter, lanolin, wheat germ oil,, and almond oil may be more beneficial for reducing stretch marks and I would suggest that if you are for example pregnant and you want to try and minimize your risk then you can massage your stomach, your breast, your upper thighs, and your lower back.

Gradual weight gain and gradual weight loss are also important. For example, if you're pregnant it's worth trying to make sure that you do gain weight gradually to prevent stretch marks. Equally if you're trying to lose weight try not to lose it too quickly because this can cause sagging of the skin.

A healthy diet and lots of water is also very important because it helps to hydrate your skin and also gives it the nourishment it needs to stimulate collagen production. If you already have stretch marks, vitamin E cream is said to improve the appearance of them and as well as deep massage is supposed to help stimulate collagen production in the skin. So they are all worth a try if you want to reduce the appearance of your stretch marks.

As a last resort you could also try laser therapy to reduce the appearance of your stretch marks, having said that however I believe that it is more important to learn to love your body and the natural changes that occur on it with life events like having a baby or losing a large amount of weight. So I hope that this video has been useful and I hope that you can learn to love your body.
