How To Put Fins On A Surf Board

Okay, guys, in this video, I'm going to show you how to get your fins into your surfboard. So, we are going to look at this board first. When you buy a surfboard, they always come with fins.

Some of the boards that you buy will have fixed fins, so you do not have to worry, you do not have to put fins in and out. Fins that you can put in and out are excellent for travelling, so you can put different sized fins in your board, you can transform the board in a way that forms the water. So, this board here is an FCS system, so when you get your fins, it is going to come with an FCS key.

So if you look at this board here, you have got little grub screws, put your key in, and wind them out, so you never really want to take the grub screws out, because if you're taking them out and putting them in, you are really going to wear the plastic around inside the fin. So, just take them out so it frees up the gap inside so we can get our fins in, like so. So, especially with putting fins in, you always have a back fin, so you have to figure out which is your back fin.

Back fin is always the more rounded fin. So, it is my white one, it is a lot more rounded. And then, the side fins have one round edge and one flat edge on the inside.

So, this is how we put it in, just slot it in, nice and tight, hold it down, get your fin key, keep turning there until you cannot turn anymore, don't be too masculine about it. You do not want to go snapping the fin, as soon as you feel a bit of pressure stop. Other side, turn until you feel it starts to get a bit tight, there you go.

Give it a few wiggles with your hand, right, that is securely in, you are a way to go. Likewise with the other two fins, just pop them in, just screw them in, and you are a way to go. On this board, it is just a different set up, it is called Future Fins.

They will give you a Future key, but the FCS key is fine also. So, just a little separate fin system, so these are my two side fins, curved edge on the outside of the fin, straight edge on the inside of the fin. That fin is for there, that fin is for there, and this is my rounded fin which is the back fin.

You can see on this fin system, we only have one grub screw, so put your FCS key in, of your Future fin key, wind it out, remember not to take it out again. It has got a little hook system here, put the bar in there, put the end of the fin in the board, and then push it down, one in, screw that in, until it starts to get tight, one more half turn. Give it a pull back; that is securely in.
